Eligibility Requirements for Membership
For Students Members:
-
At least a 3.2 cumulative Undergraduate GPA or
-
At least a 3.5 cumulative Graduate GPA
-
Undergraduate Junior Class standing or higher or
-
Completion of 50% of Graduate coursework
-
Who possess: honor, integrity, and a strong entrepreneurial spirit
-
A one-time initiation/membership fee of $50
For Faculty Members:
-
Full-time or Part-time faculty
-
Who have enhanced the study of entrepreneurship
For Entrepreneur Members:
-
Who have demonstrated a strong entrepreneurial spirit
-
Who are models of principled entrepreneurship
For Honorary Members:
-
Who have achieved distinction in their chosen profession or
-
Who have rendered unusually significant service through their leadership in significant causes
How to Apply for Membership
The following applications must be completed and submitted to your local chapter.
For Student Members:
For Faculty Members:
- Faculty Membership Application
- If applying for a faculty advisor position for a newly chartered school – please submit with the petition to charter; otherwise submit to current faculty advisor.
- Up to 4 faculty members may be selected for membership in the first year. Up to 2 faculty members may be selected in succeeding years.
For Entrepreneur Members:
- Entrepreneur Member Application
- May be completed by the individual – or in nomination of an individual by a current member of Sigma Nu Tau.
- Up to 4 entrepreneurs may be selected for membership in an academic year.
For Honorary Members:
- Honorary Member Application
- May be completed by the individual – or in nomination of an individual by a current member of Sigma Nu Tau
- Up to 2 Honorary Members may be selected for membership in an academic year.

How to Start a Sigma Nu Tau Chapter at Your School
1. Determine if your school meets the eligibility requirements:
- Do you offer a bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. degree in entrepreneurship, small business management, or a similar academic major with an entrepreneurial emphasis?
- Is your school accredited by the appropriate regional accrediting body?
2. Determine if your school will support a Sigma Nu Tau chapter:
- Complete the Petition to Establish a Collegiate Chapter form
- Obtain a Letter of Endorsement from your dean, vice president for academic affairs, president, or chancellor
- Identify a Faculty Advisor and a Faculty Secretary
- Identify a minimum of 4 prospective student members
- Attach membership application forms for Faculty Advisor and Faculty Secretary and for all students nominated for membership
- (Membership applications may be sent in with the Petition to Establish a Collegiate Chapter or after your petition has been approved)
- Include one time initiation/membership fee of $50 for each member
- (Membership applications may be sent in with the Petition to Establish a Collegiate Chapter or after your petition has been approved)
- Attach Charter Fee of $150 (for first 25 chapters) or $300 thereafter.
3. Mail Petition to Establish a Collegiate Chapter packet to:
